Greetings from Carrboro,
Gold. Franckincense. Myrrh. Ribs. That was the original lineup as described in the Dead Sea scrolls. I swear. You can look it up. The ancient story goes that along their epic route, the wise men got wise. And sort of had an epiphany on the way to Epiphany. Basically, they ate the ribs. Every last one. The Magi just couldn’t help themselves, bless their heart. So, back in the day, to celebrate this feeding frenzy in the dessert, there was always חג של הצלעות (Feast of the Ribs – from the Aramaic) on December 28th. Yes, it’s been lost over the ensuing millennia. Or at least looked past. But at Acme, we are all about tradition. And ribs. So, we’re bringing this feast day back. It could be big.
The Acme Feast of the Ribs. Wednesday, December 28th. Slowly smoked and braised local pork ribs with overnight baked beans, steakhouse fries, and cole slaw. After one whiff, you’ll know why this sacred food offering never made it to Bethlehem. Alas, just to be clear, we we will only have so many. Naughty or nice won’t matter; reservations will. And let me assure you, with the proper libation it will definitely be a religious experience.
Acme will be open Saturday, Christmas Eve from 4pm – 9pm. Reservations for special days like this are by phone only (919 929 2263). We will be closed on Christmas Day (Sunday) but will reopen on Monday, December 26th at our regular time. It really is such a wonderful time of year. We hope that you can join us.
Wild game pot pie (duck, rabbit, turkey). Butter poached lobster, corn pudding, asparagus. Baked fresh Christmas ham. Holiday Sangria. Grilled Kansas City steak with blue crab béarnaise. Pan-seared sheepshead with gingered O’Henry sweet potatoes. Pecan-crusted fried chicken. Glazed local carrots. Chocolate Sundae with candy cane ice cream. Tuna and beet tartare. Wild Salmon. Acme cornbread. Carolina-style seafood chowder. Cast-iron cooked duck breast. Flash-fried flounder. Housemade Eggnog! ‘Tis the season. Enjoy it.
Well that’s all the news from Carrboro. The staff at Acme wish you and yours a glorious holiday. And look forward to serving you soon.
Cheers,
