Weekend @ Acme 9/16

9/16
Greetings from Carrboro, It’s remarkable. The temperature dips below 65 degrees and kitchen people start talking about duck fat. Like clockwork. Now, this may just be a Southern thing. Akin to people in Vermont breaking out the margarita glasses and flip-flops that first day the snow melts enough that they can see the ground. Admittedly, it’s overly optimistic. It’ll get hot again. It always does. Hell, it’s still summer. But you must understand that these are people who get burned for a living. And come back for more. Optimism runs rampant back there. Or, possibly, it’s a euphemism for a particular culinary masochism. Regardless, we love the fall. Love it. The flavors and smells. The way the light changes coming through the kitchen door. The whole shebang. So, we’re starting fall a tad early. Just for you. OK. Maybe for us, too. Maybe. Pan-seared Duck Breast with Pumpkin Gnocchi, Beet Greens, and Sage-Brown Butter Sauce. Autumn a la mode. There are still a few seats left for our Italian Wine Dinner on Monday, September 19th. We are thrilled to have Blair Taylor flying in for the occasion to showcase his extraordinary wines. We’ll get started at 6:30. Price is $55 per person. Reservations required. Great Italian wine and great American food. Does it get any better? On a Monday? Menu is below. Summer’s swansong never tasted so damn good. Acme will be closed tomorrow night for a very special wedding celebration. Welcome Gagliarda “Fallegro” Favorita 2010
