Greetings from Carrboro,
You’d think I was Timothy Chalamet. The emails just gush with praise. Day after day there are numerous entreaties to have lunch or coffee. And each ooze with such a keen awareness of the obvious fact that successful entrepreneurs like me are super, super busy. This barrage of AI affection has definitely reached a fever pitch as 2025 comes careening to a close and has, just recently, crossed over from gmail to voicemail. I don’t want to brag but I was part of an exclusive group that was offered the opportunity to purchase an extremely profitable dog kennel franchise. Cha-ching! And they didn’t even factor in all the food scraps that I’d have at my disposal.
So if you share my viral, “killin’ it in Carrboro” popularity, you may find this newsletter a tad disappointing. There’s no wild fortune to be had. Not even lunch or a cup of coffee. But there is an offer of something that’s pretty damn delicious that may – and I must emphasize may – presage copious amounts of good luck, solid health, and serious moolah. Just for you. I’m talking about the traditional New Year’s Day Brunch at Acme where you can eat your way to a fabulous 2026. For the uninitiated, there’s a long held New Year’s Day tradition in the South of eating: 1) black-eyed peas for luck. 2) collard greens for wealth. 3) and pork – yes, pork – for health. And, well, we feel it our responsibility to make sure that you are given the chance to eat your fill of each of the above. Because who can ever have too much health, wealth, or luck? Am I right?

New Year’s Day Brunch at Acme, Thursday, January 1st. Doors open at 11am. Reservations are recommended. We’ll have our famous Health, Wealth, and Luck Platter to help you usher in a fantastic 2026. And, yes, there will be plenty of Bloody Marys and Mimosas to aid those whose 2025 had a rather rocky final act. Of course we’ll have coffee and waffles and biscuits and bacon, too. It is brunch, after all. And honestly, you shouldn’t start the New Year hungry. So, let’s make 2026 delicious. My fortune in dog kennels can wait.
There are a few reservations remaining for Christmas Eve Dinner tomorrow night. The doors will open at 4pm for those concerned that Santa might not get to bed on time. It’s always a festive and fun night at the restaurant. We’d love for you to join us.
Well, that’s all the news from Carrboro. The staff at Acme look forward to serving you soon.
Cheers,
The Staff at Acme
