Greetings from Carrboro,
It’s birthday season. Well, at least around here. During the next six weeks Acme will celebrate 27 years in Carrboro, my eldest daughter will toast a similar number of trips around the sun, and then someone, um, else might have to – let’s just say for my sanity – put, oh, a few more candles on their cake. Yikes. The only trouble is that, by and large, the inevitable cold + dark + blah doesn’t make January and February into the most festive months for birthdays.
So we thought we’d change that. And reach out to our fellow birthday brethren to help mitigate the downside of winter’s often dispiriting imprint on all things celebratory. Until the end of February, the Acme kitchen is going to give out delicious birthday cakes to any party of six or more who come in to celebrate the all-important big day. Think of it as our birthday gift to you. And, yes, with candles a plenty. We will encourage singing. All you have to do is give us a 48 hour notice. Easy, peasy.
You can choose from the classic birthday cake with sprinkles and vanilla buttercream, chocolate (of course), or carrot cake for those who prefer cream cheese frosting (you know who you are). And, yes, it’s also possible to make this into a surprise party for another lucky soul. Somehow I doubt that you’re worried, but just in case – the cakes are all oh-so delicious. As they should be; it’s your damn birthday. And because celebrations are just better at Acme.
Snow, schmow; we got you. Acme will be open Friday and Saturday and Sunday regardless of inclement weather. There have been some incredible nights at the restaurant when snow has ventured this far south. That gallon of milk and loaf of bread can wait.
Well, that’s all the news from Carrboro. The staff at Acme look forward to serving you soon.
Cheers,
The Staff at Acme
