Greetings from Carrboro,
When spring is good, it’s SO good. On certain afternoons the flowers bloom brighter, the birds sing more beautifully, and all seems exactly right in the world. And Saturday, April 9th, promises to be one of those days. BBQ + Beer + Bluegrass + Bivalves. No abacus necessary. You can do that math. Right?
The Salt & Smoke Festival is taking our show on the road to Ponysaurus Brewing Co. in downtown Durham for a spring fling of epic proportions. It all gets started at 4pm. Jake and I will be smoking the pigs overnight in the Ponysaurus front yard. Tony will be there to shuck the Hog Island oysters. Big Fat Gap will provide the soundtrack. And, of course, we will have all the fixings that make Salt & Smoke, well, Salt & Smoke. Just in Spring. Just for you.
For those who haven’t been there, Ponysaurus is the perfect place for our very southern-styled throwdown. Right in downtown Durham, the brewery has plenty of parking, a big grassy yard, plenty of tables, and, most importantly, an unlimited supply of delicious beer. The way I see it, Saturdays were made for this.
There is a down side; tickets are limited. And they are only available online. We know that Salt & Smoke will sell out – the festival always does. It’s just a matter of when.
Salt & Smoke is headed your way, Ponysaurus. Giddy-up!
The fine print: Festival ticket gets you into the shindig. It also lets you dance to live bluegrass music by Big Fat Gap, eat ridiculous local whole-hog BBQ and all the fixings (and, yes, you can pick off the pig, too), slurp 1/2 dozen raw Hog Island oysters, pocket an ever-so-fashionable Salt & Smoke pint glass, and relish that first, perfect beer. Ooh. La. La.
Isn’t it time to #GetYourSouthOn?
Well, that’s all the news from Carrboro. The staff at Acme look forward to serving you soon.
