Greetings from Carrboro,
I went with Dolly. In the end, how could I resist an advent calendar that features the Queen of Nashville as a beatified Mrs. Claus? And I assumed that Dolly Parton would never sanction crappy sweets. Though I must say, somehow I did miss the cultural shift when the repertoire of advent calendars expanded beyond the usual candy. I was shocked. The fact that there are wine advent calendars sort of heralds that Pandora’s box has certainly been opened. And opened a tad more than a smidge. I have not googled whether or not there’s a similar holiday themed calendar of bacon or tequila because, honestly, I’m scared to find out. Prepare yourself. Lent could be next.
But I do like the idea of gifts extending beyond the big day. It feeds the anticipatory frenzy. So, we thought it would be a swell plan to have the Acme 12 days of Gift-mas. Get it? Gift-mas? Starting tonight, we are handing out some cool presents to lucky people – insert favorite selfie here – eating at the restaurant every night until the 23rd. From delicious cookies to bottles of wine to a $200 gift card. There’s a calendar below. Some of the gifts will be in multiples and others just a few. But don’t get your hopes up for Dolly; she’s not returning my calls.
As part of our Gift-mas extravaganza, Acme is having our Prime Rib Night next Wednesday, December 14th. The real deal. No question. With potato gratin and creamed spinach and classic horseradish sauce. It’s singularly guaranteed to get you into the holiday spirit. But know that there will only be so many for us to serve. Basically, at some point we will sell out. So, reservations are strongly recommended. And do make a note on your reservation if interested in the prime rib so that we make sure to reserve yours.
Acme is also making the gift buying part of the holiday a good bit sweeter. With each purchase of a $100 gift card, we are throwing in an additional gift card of $20. And that could be a little something extra just for you or for some other very fortunate soul. Either way, it’s a great deal. You can purchase the gift cards on our website and in person at the restaurant – if purchased online, the additional $20 gift cards can be sent to you digitally, all you will need to do is reach out to us with your order information at contact@acmecarrboro.com. The in-house cards are already in little boxes ready to be put under the tree. The Holidays are better here.
Well, that’s all the news from Carrboro. The staff at Acme look forward to serving you soon.
Cheers,
The Staff at Acme
