Greetings from Carrboro,
I’ll give it to you straight; I really, really don’t like Jingle Bell Rock. At all. Even with Earth, Wind, and Fire re-releasing September as December to cash in on Christmas, Jingle Bell Rock is still the season’s anthem most likely to make me visibly cringe. Somehow blatantly co-opting and corrupting the name of a classic holiday song makes it that much worse. And we can all see how continuing down that lazy path is just not a good idea. Think about it; a modern take on I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus would go off the rails pretty fast.
Classics are classics for a reason. Imitations merely pale in comparison. This from a guy who has a restaurant in the Paris of the Piedmont. Enough said. So while you are welcome to go to Subway and grab a cold roast beef hoagie over the holidays, let me just say that your sandwich won’t hold a candle to the Acme Prime Rib Holiday Dinner. Imitator, meet classic. Meh, meet marvelous. Creekstone Farm standing rib roast with three different sauces, mashed potatoes, creamed winter greens, warm & buttery dinner rolls, classic clementine, endive, & toasted almond salad, and Acme’s butterscotch pudding with chocolate ganache and cinnamon shortbread for dessert. If that doesn’t put you in the holiday spirit, check your pulse.
The Acme Holiday Dinner Tour – the
Prime Rib Edition. Thursday, December 17th through Sunday, the 20th. The meal will easily serve two people. So get out the good silver, light some candles, and invite someone you love. A bottle of red wine would be nice. But please don’t listen to Jingle Bell Rock. Especially the Hall & Oates version. Even real mistletoe won’t save you from that. Cross my heart.
This week’s Holiday Dinner Tour – the Seafood Feast Edition – is almost sold out. As of this writing we have two dinners left for ordering tonight through this Sunday, December 12th. ‘Tis the season. So grab a fork.
Well, that’s all the news from Carrboro. The staff at Acme look forward to serving you soon.
Cheers,
