Don’t get me wrong; Sundays are fine. Fine. As days go, they certainly are one of them. But you gotta admit that Sundays seem to have lost their mojo the past couple of years. Remember Sunday funday? It fell off a cliff about the same time those kids did while enmeshed in Pokemon GO. And seriously I’m not blaming the Sunday slide on Nintendo. No. I do, however, blame Nintendo for the euphoric laughter that erupts from my daughters each time one of them laps me on Mario Kart.
So, all of us at Acme decided to toss Sunday a lifeline. This Sunday, August 7th, Acme is throwing a Bodacious Biscuit Pop-up Party on our patio. Since our biscuits are quite a mouthful, we thought the name of the pop-up should be, too. It starts at 11am and ends at 1pm (or, you know, whenever we run out of biscuits) and it will be first come, first served. No phone-in or online orders. You’ll walk-up to our outside bar, order, and then sit wherever you like on our patio. Or you can take it to go. And if a hot buttermilk biscuit won’t motivate you to get out of the house on a Sunday, I’d be a little concerned. And don’t worry; it will be so, so worth it.
There will be basically two delectable versions of our Acme BBs (bodacious biscuits). BB#1: Fowl Play – fried chicken, Latta’s egg, and a mound of cheddar cheese all on a giant (not hyperbole) hot biscuit with a side of red-eye gravy. BB#2: The Green Monster – fried green tomatoes, arugula, so much pimento cheese, Latta’s egg all on the same aforementioned biscuit. You can add a weave of hot bacon to either one if you want to make it even more southern. We’ll have mimosas, Bloody Marys, cold beer, and coffee to wash it all down. Sunday, you’re welcome.
And tonight is our Almost Friday $15. Every entrée, every Thursday, is $15. Now through the end of September. Seriously, why not give the weekend a jumpstart? August could use some help. Think Blackened salmon. Pecan-crusted fried chicken. Smoked tomato risotto. Acme-style fish & chips. Firsthand Foods 12 oz. pork chop. You get the picture. Just don’t drive off a cliff using your GPS trying to find us. We’re still smack in the middle of downtown Carrboro.
Well, that’s all the news from Carrboro. The staff at Acme look forward to serving you soon.
Cheers,
The Staff at Acme
