I don’t ever remember an Easter egg hunt. Or, thankfully, any kind of egg and spoon race in the front yard. I did, however, suffer through myriad incarnations of weaving around school desks doing the inescapable “Bunny Hop.” And having to wear an annoying clip-on tie to church on the big day along with maybe one or two jelly beans in my pocket.
The upside to Easter – surprise, surprise – was always the food. It was a big enough deal to merit a congealed salad, the glass pyrex dish taking up half a shelf in the refrigerator the day before. And if there was a congealed salad, then there was almost certainly dessert. Winner, winner, Easter dinner.
For our purposes, I think that it’s probably best for everyone to leave the combo of Jell-O and celery and Miracle Whip back in the 70s. Right? You can (should?) certainly have an Easter feast without it. And we’re here to prove it. In two very delicious ways.
First, we will be open for Easter Brunch with an a la carte menu from 10am – 3pm on Sunday the 31st. Biscuits and bacon to salmon and steaks. Indoors or out, it’s a perfect way to celebrate Easter. Reservations are not required but oh-so recommended. And – knock on wood – the weather looks to be on our side.
Second, we are offering our traditional Easter Feast To-Go if dinner at home is your preferred way to celebrate. Pick-up will be on Saturday, March 30th, between 2pm and 4pm. Each package is $75 and will serve two hungry souls. Menu is below. Easter without cooking is a very good thing. Because we can agree that the Easter Bunny has plenty to do already.
This weekend we have some beautiful Porgies (fish) and shrimp from the coast brought up by our neighbor, Salvador at Tom Robinson’s seafood. It doesn’t get much better.
And as always, our brunch entrees this Sunday are all $10 and dinner entrees on Monday are $15. What’s your excuse? Not joining us is the real March Madness.
Well, that’s all the news from Carrboro. The staff at Acme look forward to serving you soon.
Cheers,
The Staff at Acme
