You’ve been waiting for a good bit. But you’re finally here. And the guy’s already checked nonchalantly to see if your safety bar is secure. This is basically the point where the teenager in the booth is telling you to keep your arms inside at all times. There’s really no going back now. You take a deep breath to suppress the building anxiety. The person sitting next to you gives you that look and says, “Here we go again.”
The Holiday Rollercoaster is here. And I don’t know if you’re one of the cool kids who rides in the back or the eager beavers who sit at the very front or those slumped in the middle, eyes closed, praying that it will be over soon. Regardless, we’re all on board. From where I sit, the cars have left the station.
And, well, we couldn’t be happier. Thanksgiving is less than a week away, bringing with it that rush of family and food and friends. It can be pretty overwhelming. And pretty fantastic. For those you still sitting on the fence, Acme will continue taking orders for our Thanksgiving Feast thru Sunday. But that’ll be it. We ordered extra turkeys to be on the safe side. So, there’s still time to oh-so simply escape the kitchen duties that relentlessly lurk in your future. Just think: no cooking. Period. I promise that it can make the rollercoaster ride a lot more fun.
But that’s just the beginning. There’ll be an entire month of festivities at Acme to help make this time of year live up to its billing. The eggnog is already aging slowly in our walk-in. And we started taste-testing cookies. So, we’re definitely getting in good holiday shape. Because somebody’s got to do it, right?
Of course, we’ll be here all weekend long. Salvador just brought us some beautiful seafood from the coast. And, rumor has it, we’ll have donuts at brunch on Sunday. That’s right. They’re back. Finally. Consider it your first holiday present. This is the one rollercoaster where it’s okay to eat while the car’s in motion. Trust me.
Well, that’s all the news from Carrboro. The staff at Acme look forward to serving you soon.
Cheers,
The Staff at Acme
