Greetings from Carrboro,
There should be a bumper sticker: What Would Santa Drink? My guess isn’t milk or cocoa. And I certainly don’t see him as some jaded elf, man-spreading in his office, looking at his infamous list with a tumbler of cheap scotch in his hand. No. I must say that I picture Ol’ St. Nick sipping bubbles – the good stuff – with Mrs. Claus and a festive cadre of diminutive North Pole-eans thrilled that Christmas is finally here. Because honestly, does anyone hear Joy to the World and then think Bud Light?
And aren’t we all trying to channel our inner Santa right about now? Currently, I’m in that initial fortifying-with-cookies-and-fudge phase. I see it like a warm-up. You know, some kind of preparatory holiday version of jumping-jacks. But with chocolate. Because face it; if you’re going to channel your inner St. Nick, you’ve gotta know that a physique like that takes some serious dedication.
Next week, phase two begins. And that’s where you come in. Acme’s annual Holiday Bubbly Dinner. Wednesday, December 19th. It’s four courses of beautiful sparkling wine with equally glorious seasonal seafood. Plus fudge. We’ll get started at 6:00pm. Menu is below. Tickets are $80 and can only be purchased by calling the restaurant (919-929-2263). A credit card number is required. Seating is limited and tickets are sold on a first come, first served basis. We expect the dinner to sell out. Channeling your inner Santa was never so delicious. The best part? No assembly required.
And if your holidays need a little turbo boost, tonight is Acme Half-y Hour. Every Thursday, perfect Shooting Point Oysters on the half-shell are half-price for half the night (until 7:30). That’s $12 for a dozen righteous oysters. Just add your favorite beverage. Or two. And let me play the good angel and tell you that the mall can wait. I swear. The weekend starts at Acme.
Well, that’s all the news from Carrboro. The staff at Acme look forward to serving you soon.
Cheers,
The staff at Acme
