Greetings from Carrboro,
This month, Acme will turn 26. And if you’re counting in restaurant years, that’s a lot. But measuring the life of a restaurant with a calendar only tells a bit of the story. There are the many hundreds of employees. The million+ guests. The untold tons – tons! – of potatoes, of flour, of butter and milk and cream. The stories. The laughter. The 3am pacing. The friendships. And if you want to use the 10,000-hour rule as a marker for mastery, I’d say we’ve got several things down pat. And then some.
One of the most delicious is buttermilk biscuits. I’m sure that Bryson, our Fed-Ex guy, is tired of bringing us case after case of White Lily flour. Week after week. As kids, both of my daughters – now in their 20s – helped me make them on Sunday mornings. It’s a family tradition. So much so that the rolling pin that my grandfather used to make biscuits is displayed in the dining room. Because 26 years on, some things never change; there really isn’t much that’s better than a hot biscuit on a cold morning.
To celebrate our 26th anniversary, we’re going to show off those serious biscuit skills. For the entire month of February, each of our Sunday Brunch entrees will only be $10. Basically the same price as when we opened in 1998. You know, in the last millennium. It’s our way of saying thank you. Because we get to do what we love because of you.
There are about 10 tickets left for our Tuesday Supper Club next week, February 6th. Menu is below. Price for tickets to the 4-course meal is $45. Doors open at 6pm. Tuesdays don’t get much better.
And the following Tuesday, February 13th is Mardi Gras. Acme opens at 5pm. It’s going to be a great night as we bring the Big Easy to Carrboro. Don’t be afraid to have a good time. We certainly won’t. And, yes, the beads are on us.
The Atlas Cocktail Class series continues on February 11th @ 4pm. Our focus will be on the Sidecar and its many off-spring. Think margarita, Last Word, or Corpse Reviver No. 2. Snacks will be provided. And everyone gets to take home their glass to add to their bar collection.
Well, that’s all the news from Carrboro. The staff at Acme look forward to serving you soon.
Cheers,
The Staff at Acme
