Greetings from Carrboro,
Sometimes English doesn’t cut it. Call it culinary intuition, but I have the strong sense that Eggs Benedict would not have the same yum-appeal if Hollandaise instead was hung with the moniker “lukewarm citrus butter gravy.” You with me? Needless to say, the french version sounds much more delicious. It may just be the romantic accent; that seductive and confident nuance that French exudes. To that end, here’s a little bonus life hack: labeling something with a foreign name gives you a distinctly cosmopolitan air at parties. I certainly sound more worldly when I drop, in passing conversation, my recent deep dive into “Des Choses plus Étranges” and then head to the bar for a drink.
C’est la vie. And we get it. That’s why Acme is not having a pink wine gathering next Thursday. Or some assembly of like-minded pink wine advocates. Hell no. We are having a singularly badass rosé soirée – pardon my French. Translation? A righteous celebration of summer with NC butter-poached shrimp rolls, sweet corn ribs, stoplight melon kebobs, and summertime peach panna cotta. Oh, and enough rosé to sink a ship. Add to that a bangin’ summertime sing-along soundtrack (and, yes, porrons!) and you have the recipe for a soirée that would make France proud. Carrboro’s not the Paris of the Piedmont for nothing.
The 2019 Acme Rosé Soirée, part deux. Thursday, August 22nd. We’ll get started at 6:30 and go until, well, until. Tickets for the event are $25 and include the full menu plus generous tastes of all sorts of rosé. And these tickets can only be purchased by calling the restaurant – 919 929 2263. The soirée will assuredly sell out and all tickets are sold on first come, first served basis. It’s important to note that the party is outside on the patio without tables or chairs so come prepared. It’s also going to be a blast – so come prepared for that, too. Vive la Carrboro!!
This weekend @ Acme: Acme tomato plate. Grilled bone-in local pork chops. Fried okra and shishitos. Fig hand pies. Pecan crusted fried chicken. Line-caught NC tuna. Southern tomato pie. Goat cheese stuffed delicata squash. Shooting Point oysters on the half-shell. Acme wedge salad. Peach Cobbler. Watermelon sangria. Forever roasted pig. Summertime risotto. Charred jalapeno cornbread. Scallop chili relleno. Key lime pie. Cold beer. Colder martinis. And ballpark corn ribs, ftw.
Well, that’s all the news from Carrboro. The staff at Acme look forward to serving you soon.
Cheers,
The Staff at Acme
