Greetings from Carrboro,
I put salt on watermelon. A friend swears by pickles slathered in peanut butter. The world is awash in such illicit alliances – combinations that don’t make sense until they most certainly and unequivocally do. Fried grasshoppers with guacamole, anyone? And honestly, the unholy combos only make sense after they’re tried. You just can’t nonchalantly dip your toe in the water – no way. You have to take a deep breath and jump.
I have no idea who had the idea to first mix together drag and brunch. Because mixing biscuits and lip-syncing doesn’t just spring to mind the same way as, say, biscuits and jam. Nevertheless, it’s definitely a thing. From coast to coast. It’s sort of the kombucha of restaurant rituals – surprisingly ubiquitous. And equally addictive. But while kombucha claims to be good for your health, drag brunch is definitely good for your soul.
So this Sunday at 11am we are jumping in with both feet. Again. The Acme Drag Brunch – the Halloween edition. It’s a delicious brunch buffet (menu is below) and two hours of unbelievably spook-tacular performances. Tickets are $40 for the performance, buffet, and your first drink. Think mimosas and Madonna, Bloody Marys and Beyonce. With a whole lot of cheering on the side. Those who know, know – there’s no way not to have a good time. The rest of you will just have to trust me.
And tonight we continue our Almost Friday $15. Every entrée, every Thursday is $15. That’s like dinner for the price of two pumpkin spice lattes. And you don’t have to eat it in your car. You have to admit that’s a scary good deal.
Well, that’s all the news from Carrboro. The staff at Acme look forward to serving you soon.
Cheers,
The Staff at Acme
