Greetings from Carrboro,
Miami Beach has it’s own diet. And, of course, there is that equally popular Mediterranean plan to svelte-hood. Both invoke the warm, healthy & carefree thing. (Bacon? What’s bacon?) And then there’s the ever-popular cleanse trend where universally disliked vegetables and lawn trimmings are unendingly force-fed in disguised liquid form. For the same cost as a new sleeper sofa. To my mind they just radiate California.
Notice the trend. There’s not a lot of cold climate slimming regimens. And for very good reason. Take Ireland. Somehow the Irish Sea Diet wouldn’t quite conjure bikinis and eternal sunsets. Corned beef smoothies are most definitely not about to trend at a mall kiosk near you. At least I sincerely hope not. And a Beef & Guinness pie cleanse probably would be wildly popular – just not terribly trimming. Tragic.
So for our own good, be grateful St. Patrick’s Day is only once a year – this little corner of March. And as is our tradition, Friday thru Sunday (3/15 – 3/17) we’re going to roll out an Acme version of Irish health food. We’re cooking the corned beef slow and low – 48 hours slow to be exact. With braised cabbage and mustard cream – it’s going to be righteous. Add to that bangers and mash. Colcannon. Lots of whiskey. Beef & Guinness Pie. Lamb country captain. Sticky toffee pudding. Mint, sweet pea, and ricotta risotto. Scotch-Irish egg. Beer for days. Lucky Charms Sundaes (yes, you read that right). Bone-in Ribeyes with Jameson butter. And all our usual array of southern delicious. Plus at least two guys named Patrick. But no Leprechauns. They scare me.
And, by the way, we do have a few seats left for our Meet the Makers dinner #2 with Foothills Brewing on Wednesday, 3/20 at 6:30pm. Menu is below. Price is $49 per person. Tickets can only be purchased by calling the restaurant: (919) 929-2263. And we promise the beer won’t be green.
Well, that’s all the news from Carrboro. The staff at Acme look forward to serving you soon.
Cheers,
