Greetings from Carrboro,
You can’t have a gravy soirée. OK, let’s just say that you really shouldn’t. Because bowls of gravy don’t elicit any profound, fun-tastic party vibe. Right? Maybe I’m wrong. But I have the distinct feeling that any such festivities would seduce a slice of humanity we don’t necessarily want to encourage cavorting en masse. At home with the curtains pulled is fine. But in public? No. Best to keep that bit tucked in. You know, for the children.
But a Rosé Soirée makes perfect sense. Because pink wine is so damn festive. Nobody sits at home drinking rosé and reading The Brothers Karamazov. And rosé sort of begs for the music to be turned up and for your phone to be put down. It begs for friends and laughter, makes food taste better, and makes life’s burdens a smidge lighter. And with all the tumult that swirls around our daily lives, it can be a bit of an antidote, reminding us it’s all ok; that pressing email will assuredly be there tomorrow.
And if that’s something that pushes all your buttons, you’re in luck. Our annual Atlas Rosé Soirée is this weekend. Sunday, September 8th, to be exact. Grab some friends and join us; the weather couldn’t be any more ideal. We’ll get started at 5pm and go until the sun sets on Carrboro. Tickets for the Soirée are $40. Each ticket gets you tastes of all the different wines and glasses of your two favorites. There will be loads of delicious food from Acme, a bumpin’ soundtrack, and, hopefully, a slew of good friends. And definitely a few surprises because, well, why not? This weekend Sunday Funday has an address. And you’re cordially invited. But there aren’t many tickets left. So, consider yourself warned.
Also on Sunday, the Atlas Cocktail Class Series continues with a deep dive into rosé’s cocktail doppelganger, the Spritz. It’s the doyen of day-drinking and one of the preeminent cocktails for entertaining. You’ll get to taste several versions and learn the method behind the myth. As with all of our classes, everyone gets a complimentary glass to take home and add to your collection. Tickets for the class are $35 and limited to 16. We will kick things off at 3:30.
To add to the weekend festivities, we will have one of my all-time favorite foods, fresh stone crab claws. These are North Carolina crabs that Salvador from Tom Robinson’s seafood is driving up from the coast today. IYKYK. But we only have so many. Cross my heart; I won’t eat them all.
This weekend @ Acme: Perfect Carolina Tuna. Acme tomato plate. Back to School pie. Pecan-crusted fried chicken. Shooting Point Oysters on the half-shell. Eggplant caviar. Pan-seared pork tenderloin. Fried okra and shishito peppers. Acme wedge salad. Blackened salmon. Hushpuppies. Raul’s gumbo. Shrimp & scallop risotto. Southern tomato pie. Deviled eggs. 16oz ribeye steaks. Forever roasted pig. Watermelon salad. Acme smashburger. Coconut negronis. Almond cheesecake with buttered fresh cherries. Cornbread & butter. And perfect weather to sit outside. Especially Sunday brunch. Make no mistake; weekends are better here.
Well, that’s all the news from Carrboro. The staff at Acme look forward to serving you soon.
Cheers,
The Staff at Acme
