☘ Greetings from Carrboro ☘
In Chicago, they turn the Mississippi green. Like, you know, really green. For miles. But Carrboro’s lack of any significant tributary sort of shot that idea in the foot. Unless we chose to dye Bolin Creek some vibrant verdant hue. But that would probably just terrify wildlife. And expecting the town to bounce back so quickly after their signature Christmas parade with another festive roadway pageant is just asking too much. Especially considering March Madness. And the ever-tricky time change.
But there’s no need to fret – Acme’s got this. St Patrick’s Day will not be forgotten on Tobacco Road amid all the hoop-centric hysteria. However if you require a spritely, vertically challenged soul dancing in antiquated attire, we may decidedly underperform. You see, leprechauns-r-not-us. But if your Irish dreams include housemade corned beef and cabbage, Guinness pie, bangers and mash, whiskey-cured salmon, perfect oysters, and spring lamb stew then I’d say you’re in luck. Think pot-of-gold luck.
And it wouldn’t be a proper Emerald Isle extravaganza without a surfeit of festive libations. Beer and whiskey and gin, oh my. Acme will even have an Irish bartender for the weekend! (OK. It will still be Brian Patrick Toomey. But he is Irish!) We’ll get the party started next Thursday, the 15th, and reach a jig-worthy crescendo on Saturday – St. Patrick’s Day itself – March 17th. That gives you three whole days to get your Irish on. So as they say in the old country, Carrboro go Brách!
This weekend @ Acme. Pan-seared striped bass. Heavenly Carrot Cake. 24 hour beef short ribs. Spring leeks and dayboat scallops. Pecan-crusted fried chicken. Acme paté. Flash-fried Grouper. Clams Casino. Cheeseburgers. Classic Wedge Salad. Fried Carolina Shrimp. Blackened Salmon. 28 oz bone-in ribeyes. Crab Cakes. Slow roasted pork belly. The ACC tourney. Key lime pie. But absolutely no green beer.
Well, that’s all the news from Carrboro. The staff at Acme look forward to serving you soon.
Cheers,
The Staff at Acme
