November 2nd, 2026
Greetings from Carrboro,
Please, let’s just pump the brakes. I’ve yet to fully enjoy my seasonal fill of Nerds and fun-size Butterfingers, and already the Christmas ads are hitting my inbox. Can Ho-Ho-Ho be Whoa-Whoa-Whoa until, say, the 15th? Or honestly, any date this month that has at least two numbers. Just give me a beat to get the glow-in-the-dark skeleton back in the storage bin in the attic and finally convince myself to throw out the last of the candy corn.
Poor November has classic middle-child syndrome. Overlooked and underappreciated. The older kid, December, gets Christmas and most of the attention. And the youngster, October, gets the fun of Halloween and all that that’s-so-sweet mischief. November is left with mild-mannered Thanksgiving and the task of holding the family together. Oh, and raking. Lots of raking.
But at Acme, we love November. And that’s not just a ploy to seduce all you middle children out there. You guys are too smart to fall for that, right? I’d say it’s because there’s a clear reason our one true food holiday is celebrated in November — it’s an incredibly delicious time of year. And, if nothing else, we are undoubtedly fans of delicious.
To that end, we are starting the month off with a bang. On Wednesday, November 4th, Acme is welcoming Michele Duckett from Mount Eden Vineyards to Carrboro for a night of spectacular wine and food. The wines are some of the very best that California has to offer, with their Estate Cabernet Sauvignon being one of my all-time favorite wines from the West Coast, and they pair so well with our seasonal Southern menu. Tickets to the dinner are $85, not including tax and gratuity. The menu is below. The dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m., with the doors opening at 6:00 p.m. Hump days really don’t get much better. Cross my heart.
And I’d be remiss not to mention our Southern Thanksgiving To-Go Extravaganza. It’s Thanksgiving that’s both delicious and easy. You click, we make, you eat. What’s not to love? Each meal serves two hungry souls, so if you’re serving four people, you order two meals, etc. — you get the picture. Also, all the important extras, like pies and breads and additional sides, are available for you to add to your order. And new this year, we have a vegetarian option that works equally well for those who prefer to cook their own turkey or ham and let us take care of the rest. Pick-up is Wednesday, November 25th, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. It’s everything you could want from a Thanksgiving meal — worry-free and wonderful.
Well, that’s all the news from Carrboro. The staff at Acme look forward to serving you soon.
Cheers,
