Greetings from Carrboro,
Some things you just can’t deny. Because when a thing really becomes a legit thing – not just, you know, an ordinary thing but an actual, honest-to-god THING, well what can you do but happily embrace it with open arms? I know some people will always fight it. That’s a big, 2019 “Hello” to anyone reading this on a Blackberry. Or on your NetZero account. But for the rest of us, why not? Hell, this might just be the millennials’ first holiday contribution.
Welcome to Galentine’s Day – the Acme version. It’s next Wednesday, February 13th – the day before that day. You can look it up on that Blackberry if you don’t trust me. I’m sure that there’s a Hallmark description that I could conjure to give the evening a noble bent. Some sort of proffered timely gravitas. But it’s really just a damn good excuse for women to go out and have some serious fun. Together. And that sounded like a really good idea to us.
Sadly we don’t have the requisite bonafides to have a celebratory macramé class. Or, you know, any jollity requiring a BeDazzler. But on the plus side, Acme does know how to throw a righteous party. Cotton candy cocktails, chocolate fondue, and enough chilled pink wine to swamp Carrboro. Not to mention boozy gummy bears, the perfect soundtrack, and a decadent Acme version of Valentine’s Day breakfast-in-bed to take home with you. Plus a little something special from the ladies down the block at Wax Poetic – bring your Acme receipt from the 13th in for 13% off all services and retail products. And I forget… but did I say lobster mac & cheese?
So call your BFFs and make a reservation. Or just swing by. Whether you’re a gal or not, it’s going to be dope.
In other news: due to a cancellation, we have 4 tickets for our wine dinner tomorrow night (2/6) with Australia’s Kaesler Vineyards and winemaker Reid Bosward. Tickets are $75 per person and can only be purchased by calling the restaurant (919 929 2263). The tickets are sold on a first come, first served basis. Menu is below. We will kick things off at 6:30. Act fast: maybe you’ll get lucky.
And on Thursday night (2/7), Acme will be donating 10% of our sales to help our friend and coworker Jaime Gonzalez who is fighting for his life at UNC hospital. We’d love for you to join us. Over the past week, the generosity of this community has been nothing less than amazing. As of today, the GoFundMe campaign has raised over 10K. Stunning. Personally, I’ve been incredibly moved by the outpouring of support from you, my extended Acme family. So, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you.
Well, that’s all the news from Carrboro. The staff at Acme look forward to serving you soon.
Cheers,
The Staff at Acme
