Greetings from Carrboro,
It’s about time. Literally. Arugula seeds that I bought in March wink at me, perched next to the lamp on my desk. I keep expecting to get an email from them, “How does your November look? Thursdays are good for us. ” Damn, cheerful little bastards.
Please. Are we talking November ‘24 or ‘25? Thursday AM or PM? Honestly, Siri says that I’m booked. The arugula will just have to deal. I mean – hello! – it’s 48 days until Christmas. And someone needs to finish off all this Halloween candy. Why does it all land on me?
Whether we like it or not, the holiday season is here with all its well-meaning obligations and, you know, the less fun compulsory to-do list that can hang around our neck like some leaden albatross. I oh-so get why people go away this time of year – even if it’s to a Motel 6 in Garner; it’s hard to carve out the space to do the things that make holidays memorable. Namely, spend some quality time with the ones you love.
And as with so many things, it’s a lot easier said than done. A lot. And to add insult to injury, this year has the fewest possible days between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Joy. Joy. Joy? But don’t fret, holiday brethren. Help is here.
First on our list of Holiday hacks for the self-care crowd is to let Acme cook your Thanksgiving feast. It’s delicious, easy, and saves untold hours of shopping and slicing and baking and cleaning. Borrowing from Ma Bell, letting “your fingers do the cooking” is a very good idea. Think of all the stress that you will undoubtedly leave behind. Pick up your feast on Wednesday, the 27th, and eat whenever the spirit moves you. It’s that simple. Families do it year after year for a reason. You should see the smiles on their faces.
And then there is the Christmas season with the myriad parties with friends and coworkers and neighbors. They can pile up. Both Acme and Atlas are great places to celebrate the holidays – right here in Carrboro. Acme is perfect for dinner parties for as many as 20 and Atlas can host private parties for as many as 50 with – drum roll please – food provided by Acme. Let us create the party with you and guarantee the personal experience and expertise that has been our trademark for 26 years. And if you prefer, we can bring the party to you. Our party gurus are a mere click away.
The gist is that enjoying the holidays shouldn’t be hard; it’s such a wonderful time of year. And don’t you think that the weeks ahead shouldn’t stress you out and leave you yearning for January? You deserve a great holiday. I’d say that it’s about time, wouldn’t you?
Well, that’s all the news from Carrboro. The staff at Acme look forward to serving you soon.
Cheers,
The Staff at Acme
