Greetings from Carrboro,
Somehow Löwenbräu never inspired me. And as far as I know, my night never actually belonged to Michelob. Though I must admit to a solid stretch of college when I was enamored with drinking Bass Ale. Ok, I admit that it was the cosmopolitan air I assumed radiated from the tall, brown bottle that seduced me more than the beer inside. With the rather karmic caveat that one of our oh-so-refined crew felt cringingly compelled to call it ”base ale” because, he’d continually confide, that’s how they said it in London. Talk about an awful pick up line. Needless to say, he was from Charlotte.
Beer has come a long ways since then. A long way. And can I get an amen? The hands-on world of craft breweries has revolutionized the industry. With delicious results. And thrillingly, North Carolina has become a hotbed of some of this country’s very best breweries. So, for the second dinner in our Meet the Makers Series, I’m thrilled to have our good friends at Foothills Brewing join us. We’ll talk beer – the process and the product – and where this thriving industry is headed. Oh don’t worry, we’ll certainly enjoy the libatious fruits of their labor. And, well, plenty of our own brand of delicious. Because at Acme, pleasure is never far away.
The Acme Meet the Makers Series Dinner #2. Wednesday March 20th at 6:30 in the evening. Tickets for the dinner are $49 and are sold on a first come, first served basis. Menu is below. Tickets can only be purchased by calling the restaurant (919 929 2263). It is remarkable to be a part of the craft food and beverage revolution that is happening in North Carolina. The energy and the enthusiasm and the inevitable profound commitment are all deeply inspiring. And by supporting these artisans, each of us help to make this great place that much better.
Well, that’s all the news from Carrboro. The staff at Acme look forward to serving you soon.
Cheers,
The Staff at Acme
