Greetings from Carrboro,
It’s about time. I heard an artist once respond to a simple question about when she’d started painting with an answer I didn’t expect – when did the questioner stop painting? And I’ve thought about that a lot since we penciled into the calendar our first wine dinner in five years. Because I clearly remember when we stopped our longstanding tradition of wine dinners – March of 2020. The winemaker became gravely ill and had to return to Northern California. I assume that he was one of the first people to be infected with Covid. A week after the planned dinner, restaurants were shuttered. We naively planned to reschedule the dinner for the following month.
So, here we are. Five years later. And I couldn’t be more excited once again to host a wine dinner at the restaurant. It’s also extra special because the winemaker joining us to talk about his wines is, well, part of the family. OK, extended family. But definitely family. Tim Jones is the winemaker of The Four Graces, a boutique, four employee winery in the WIllamette Valley of Oregon. Tim also happens to be the brother-in-law of our intrepid CFO, Francesca Mason. The wines are just delicious and ideally suited to our southern spring palette. So, a kinda perfect way to rekindle our love of wine dinners and the hard working souls who craft the wines we love.
The dinner is in two weeks on Wednesday May 21st. It will be a four-course affair showcasing their award-winning wines paired with our farm-driven seasonal menu. Tickets for the dinner are $75. The Menu is below. We’ll kick things off at 6:30. As always, there are a limited number of spaces available with tickets sold on a first come, first served basis. And, of course, we’d love for you to join us. It’s going to be a great night.
Well, that’s all the news from Carrboro. The staff at Acme look forward to serving you soon.
Cheers,
The Staff at Acme
