Greetings from Carrboro,
It’s more or less a week away. And Cupid’s little shindig requires a plan. For peace of mind, if nothing else. And sometimes a plan needs a blueprint or at least a little insider’s information. Because you can’t leave romance to the often perilous consequences of serendipity. Whistling in the dark is never a good substitute for a rock-solid strategy.
So we offer this, our big-hearted Valentine’s Day Survival Guide. You definitely could do worse. A lot worse.
- Make a reservation. Period. By far the easiest way to quell that anxiety. Here’s a bit of that inside information: if when you’re making a reservation you don’t see your preferred time, you can use the notify function that our reservation portal – Tock – offers. It’s our waiting list. And – here’s that insider bit – people cancel Valentine’s Day reservations all the time. And we fill all of those openings from the notify list. The sooner you’re on the list, the sooner you’ll get a reservation.
- Reservation hack: We do save tables for parties of 4. So it’s much easier to get a reservation with a group larger than 2. Also, eating at the Acme bar is a great option.
- Order our Valentines Feast To-Go and have a romantic evening at home. We have 17 packages remaining as of today. Price is $95 and the menu is below. You can even order wine and sangria to go along with your meal. All you have to do is heat and serve. The food will be delicious. Just don’t forget that all-important soundtrack.
- Lean into the Valentine’s Weekend idea. Saturday night, the 15th, can be an honest-to-goodness plan. As we say in the food world, anticipation is the sweetest sauce. And that’s when everyone in the restaurant business celebrates Valentine’s Day, if you’re wondering. We’ll have the same specials and the same sparkling service.
- Don’t forget about Atlas, right down the street. Our sister bar will have serious snacks and desserts, 5:30 to midnight, Thursday, Friday, & Saturday – the 13th – 15th. Not to mention a fantastic Valentine’s Day cocktail menu for your drinking pleasure. Atlas is also an ideal place to stop by either before or after your dinner at Acme. It really is better when you make a night of it; trust me.
That’s all we’ve got. At least for Valentine’s Day. Because we do have our 27th birthday party on the 19th with birthday cake and 27¢ glasses of celebratory bubbly. And, well, then there’s all the deliciousness this weekend. At Acme, you really can’t go wrong.
This weekend @ Acme: Overnight beef short rib stroganoff. Pan-seared striped sea bass. Shooting Point oysters on the half-shell. Roasted winter carrots. Martha’s Mississippi-style tamales. Blackened salmon. Piña colada tres leches cake. Acme wedge salad. Really old-fashioneds. Diver scallops. Smoked pork ribs and fried Carolina shrimp. Acme cornbread. Tomato Pie. Raul’s gumbo. Fried flounder. Wintertime risotto. Martinis. Acme smashburgers. Weekends are just better here.
Well, that’s all the news from Carrboro. The staff at Acme look forward to serving you soon.
Cheers,
The Staff at Acme
