Greetings from Carrboro,
Some wines are just made for summer. And when I say summer, I’m not talking about some strict calendar-centric time of year. If you’re from the south, summer is a generic word for when it’s really warm outside in the same familiar way that Coke is a catch-all for any type of fizzy, sweet beverage. Basically, when it’s 90 degrees outside it’s summer: full stop.
And some wines just can’t deal. They tuck tail and hide in the basement until leaves change color and the incessant hordes of Christmas decorations invade Target. But, ah, the glorious wines that do shine this time of year. All hail the red, white, and pink of summer! Think of the wines this way; summer wines are “movies” and cold weather wines are “films.” More Johnny Depp, less Laurence Olivier. You with me?
To celebrate these decidedly delicious wines, Acme is having a wine dinner replete with hell-yes summer food and wines. Thursday, May 25th @ 6:30. Cost for the night is $65 per person. Reservations are required by phone for the dinner. Space is limited. Menu is below. We certainly hope that you can join us. But note; you’ll need to bring your own popcorn.
This weekend @ Acme: NC mountain trout. Grilled hanger steak. Strawberry shortcake. Cast-iron skillet cornbread. Soft shell crabs. Pickled NC shrimp tostada. Beef short ribs. Fried green tomatoes. Shooting Point oysters. Gumbo. Watermelon sangria. Pink wine. Pecan-crusted fried chicken. Beet Risotto. Farmers Market salad. Cheeseburger deluxe. And everything tastes better on the patio. Guaranteed.
