Greetings from Carrboro,
We now live in the world of $1000+ advent calendars. These are mostly jewelry because, of course, that makes sense. But there are also calendars that feature 24 various bottles of wine for all those loved ones who had an unequivocally rough November. And even cheese-centric daily indulgences where the calendar – I’d imagine – would kinda dominate the fridge and may require the addition of a cracker calendar or some such complimentary accoutrement to keep your loved one from merely gnawing on a wedge of aged gouda while thinking of you.
But for most of us, the countdown to Christmas is marked, umm, differently. Dental appointments, car repair, and existential angst can fill up that dance card in the blink of an eye. I cavalierly broke a garage door, so that’s been my fun little December surprise hiding behind the doors one through five and that – I gotta guess – may lurk behind yet a few more. Because as we all know, it’s those unexpected gifts that make the season special.
I guess you really could imagine Acme as an advent calendar. We do have doors and there are delicious things behind them. But the big difference is that we let you look ahead with a sneak peak*. And for this season, behind doors 12 and 23 are our holiday prime rib dinners. Roast beef at its best. The dinner is always so popular that we decided to spread it out over two nights. Our Monday Funday is behind doors 9 and 16 (tho not the 23rd), where each of our entrées are a mere $15. And behind doors 11 and 18 is our Hump Day Half-shell Happy Hour because we know that you love oysters and that for $16 a dozen, you’ll love them that much more. There will also be other, secret surprises throughout the season.
And behind the all-important door 24, Acme is once again cooking our Christmas Feast To-Go. The meal serves two hungry souls and the menu is detailed below. The cost for the dinner is $95. Pick-up will be on Christmas Eve between 1pm – 3pm. As with years past, there are a limited number of each of the feasts and there will be additional goodies available for purchase to accompany the meal. If you’ve never enjoyed a holiday free of cooking, this could be the advent of something auspicious. Because at the end of the day, Christmas doesn’t have to be hard – but it should always be delicious.
Well, that’s all the news from Carrboro. The staff at Acme look forward to serving you soon.
Cheers,
The Staff at Acme
