Greetings from Carrboro,
Whatever you do, don’t look at the weeds in the garden. Especially after all this rain. Or your yard that should have been mowed this past Tuesday. Or, heaven forbid, the gutters around back that really need your attention. Come on; it’s Friday. You deserve a day to relax. And for god’s sake it’s Beach Week at Acme. All that other stuff can wait. Think of it all as the yardwork equivalent of those pots that need to soak overnight before being properly scrubbed. Patience, as they say, is a virtue.
And, let’s be honest; you’ve waited patiently all week to get here. That is especially difficult in August. Fridays can feel like a mirage shimmering in the distance. The week just crawls by as you sit at a traffic light and methodically doomscroll seemingly everyone you know living their best vacay life. Sometimes life is completely unfair.

That’s why every August for 13 years we’ve brought the beach to Carrboro – minus the biting flies and screaming children – to help soothe that nagging ache of FOMO. I promise that if you have a watermelon margarita and close your eyes, you’ll feel the sand between your toes. And then when you have a bite of fried shrimp… Look out.
Beach Week @ Acme (thru August 9th): Calabash platter with flounder, fried shrimp, fried clams & scallops, watermelon, corn on the cob, and coleslaw. Cold beer. Acme smashburgers. Seared yellowfin tuna. Piña colada pie. Shooting Point oysters. Channel catfish po’boys. Cast-iron scallops. Smoked fish dip. Grapefruit sherbet. Low Country Boil. Watermelon margaritas. Cornmeal-dusted red drum. Acme tomato plate. Shrimp & Tasso Tagliatelle. Peach daiquiris. Key lime pie. And plenty of other things for all the landlubbers out there.
Well, that’s all the news from Carrboro. The staff at Acme look forward to serving you soon.
Cheers,
The Staff at Acme
