Greetings from Carrboro,
Good thing the Starks didn’t choose to make Orange County home. Somehow Carrboro’s a town more suited to an optimistic familial mantra of ‘coexist’ than to something quite as bleak as ‘winter is coming.’ And then there’s the eternal problem of where exactly do you put a bloody broadsword in a Prius? Much less how to transport a direwolf. And I can’t really see Sansa shopping at Weaver Street Market for suckling pig and pickled pigeon heart. Though, to be honest, I could certainly see Jon Snow and Arya at the Cradle – an all-ages show, of course.
One thing is for sure – I know where they’d eat. At least for one meal, they’d feel completely at home. The Acme Game of Thrones Dinner. Next week – on Wednesday, February 1st at 8pm. We’ve been thinking about this for a while. Ned Stark would be proud. Certainly, for all of you with a jousting tournament the next day, this meal is a can’t-miss event. And, don’t worry, this is one Game of Thrones dinner where nobody will die. Shocking, I know.
The dinner is $55 for the 5-course excursion into the culinary realm of the Seven Kingdoms. Reservations are by phone only (919 929 2263). Menu is below. And seats are fairly scarce so, needless to say – first come, first served.
So, let’s raise a glass. To the old gods and the new! But please remember to tie all horses out back and that limited dragon parking will be available only on the roof.
Well, that’s all the news from Carrboro. The staff at Acme look forward to serving you soon.
Cheers,
The Staff at Acme
