Greetings from Carrboro,
They’re endless. Or seem to be. These clever lists of simple tricks to make life easier/better/fabulous-er. You know, life hacks. My absolute favorites are the hacks that utilize a common household item in some unforeseen way – “use dryer sheets and canned pinto beans to learn mandarin in a weekend!” That sort of thing.
Of course, I never remember a single one. Like jokes I can tell in polite society. But I know that there are people who do. Like there are people who know how to fully exploit my fancy iPhone. It’s just not me. My guess is that they are younger, live in Oregon, and raise urban, rooftop chickens.
Not that my life couldn’t use some hacking. I think that I speak for the vast majority of us when I say that some thoughtful, curated hacks would do a world of good. So, to that end, I offer one very serious life hack: Acme To-Go. Hot and delicious and at your fingertips. For Netflix, game night, or just that night when cooking isn’t an option. All you do is go to our website and hit “order now,” choose what you want, pay online, and then pickup in as little as 30 minutes. Each element is sold separately (and served family style) and then packaged ready to travel. So whether it’s two of you or twenty, you can have a great meal at home – or wherever – without ever turning on the stove. See? Life. Hacked.
And it all starts this Monday, September 17th. Oh boy. And if you want to hack the, well, hack, during the first month you can get $10 off of any order placed over $30. Just enter the coupon code “LIFEHACK” at checkout. Easy peasy. We think you’re going to like this. A lot.
But today is Thursday. And we’ve got the perfect antidote to hurricane fatigue – Acme Halfy Hour. Perfect Shooting Point Oysters on the half shell for half price for half the night (5:30 – 7:30). A delicious dozen for $12. And we promise to not even mention the Weather Channel. Or the “F” word.
This weekend at Acme: Pecan-crusted fried chicken. Pan-seared snapper. Farmers’ market risotto. Carolina shrimp. Overnight beef short ribs. Scuppernong pie. Southern tomato pie. Blackened salmon. Cocktails. Acme tomato plate. Forever roasted pig. Cheeseburgers. Chile Relleno. Grilled bone-in ribeyes. Flash-fried grouper. Crab cakes. Baked farmhouse egg. Pecan pie. Bubbly. Eastern Shore clams. All those emergency rations can wait. Really.
Well, that’s all the news from Carrboro. The staff at Acme look forward to serving you soon.
Cheers,
The Staff at Acme
P.S. Hell, yes, we’ll be open all weekend.
