You: professional and smart. A laugh that charmed the room. Even from across the restaurant, I knew that you were the one. But so did everyone else. You were my perfect cocktail – straight up but never shaken. Obviously, we both love the finer things in life. The hum of a bustling restaurant. The delicate curve of a coupe glass. But before I could introduce myself, you were gracefully moving to the door. Trying to discover your name, the bartender shrugged and told me you paid with cash. And that you do, in fact, like your Manhattans straight up.
Me: the 23-year-old from a small town (honestly, kind of a big deal there). A reputation for generosity and knowing how to have a good time. Itching to meet the right person on this side of the pandemic. It’s been a while, if you know what I mean. But not just anyone catches my eye. There was something special about the way you made the restaurant better by simply being there. If you happen to read this, I’d love to get coffee and talk. Maybe more, who knows.
Sincerely,
Captivated in Carrboro
Greetings from Carrboro,
Sadly, no one reads the “missed connections” section of Craigslist anymore. And as of today, Tinder – Restaurant Edition is only in early beta stage testing in the Bay Area. While a dating app for a grill cook is rather hilarious, I do wish that finding the perfect person to join the Acme management team was as easy as simply swiping right.
But it’s not. The almost-post-pandemic hospitality industry is a sincere work in progress. I think that we all felt that the world was on pause. That when the pandemic receded, restaurants could press play and the music would pick up exactly where it left off. But life doesn’t really have a pause button. So many people in this profession moved on. Or, maybe, life moved on and they got stuck somewhere in the middle. The needle hovering just above the record. But the time has come to press play. Again. With a brand new team. And a brand new person to lead that team. And that’s where you come in. Who better to help us find our soulmate than someone who certainly knows Acme better than the rest – you.
So, here’s the deal. You know us and you know what we do – we’re that small town 23-year-old, pining for a strong, long-lasting relationship. And all we’re asking is that if you know that special someone who would be a natural fit, let’s be in touch. Or, if it’s you, even better. We fully acknowledge that the restaurant business isn’t for everyone. But we also know that for each of us searching for that missing connection, there is no team and no place quite like this. Like this dynamic, demanding, wonderful home called
Acme.
