Greetings from Carrboro,
What do you get him? You know, dear old dad. Yes, him. It’s his big day on Sunday, in case you’ve been living off the grid. When I was a kid, Father’s Day, that oh-so-regal holiday, was festooned with an abundance of wrapped neckties and/or calf-gripping black socks. Now, it seems to have gone all man-cave with electronic-y things and athleisure leading the charge. But it’s my guess, that generational differences aside, all that dads really want is to have something delicious to eat with people they love. I know that I do.
At Acme, we’ve certainly got that covered. And in case you haven’t noticed, dads dig us. Because, hey, at brunch on Father’s Day we serve gravy and doughnuts – a clarion call to dads if ever there was one. And for dinner that night we’re rolling out the red carpet for each one of those heroes of the homestead. Here’s the deal: every dad who orders fried chicken as his entree will get it for free. Because dads love fried chicken. And we love dads. Trust me on this. It’s basically the Acme version of a culinary man hug. From one dad to another. With gravy.
But for those of you wanting to take Father’s Day to the next level, don’t worry. We’ve got that covered, too. Next Wednesday, June 19th, one of the icons of Napa Valley comes to Acme just in time for summer. Steven Corley, owner of the famous Monticello Vineyards in Napa will join us for dinner. And he’s bringing wine. Lots of it. Oh, boy. And I’ll be cooking some righteous summertime food. Needless to say, it won’t suck. I’m going to make a little something special just for the dads who join us. So, let us know when you buy your ticket. Really, what would be a better Father’s Day gift than that? I’d love for you to join us. You can always send that gift-wrapped Tesla back.
The Acme Wine Dinner with Steven Corley & Monticello Vineyards. Wednesday, June 19th at 6:30 in the evening. Tickets for the dinner are $70 and are sold on a first come, first served basis. Menu is below. I expect the dinner to sell out. What a great way to start off the summer. It’s going to be a wonderful night. And in case you were wondering, Wednesdays are just better here.
Well, that’s all the news from Carrboro. The staff at Acme look forward to serving you soon.
Cheers,
