Greetings from Carrboro,
So, did you hear the one about the three Spanish winemakers who walk into a bar? No, not the one with the gorilla, Donald Trump, and the burning cigar. The one where the bar they walk into is in Carrboro. And where it’s tonight. And it’s at Acme. And that, well, you’re invited. Have you heard that one?
Manuel Mendez of Do Ferreiro, Carlos Yecora of Luberri, and Xavier Esteve of Cava Avinyó – some of our all-time faves – are in town tonight only: Friday, April 28th. The man, the myth Andre Tamers of DeMaison Selections is acting as tour guide/troublemaker. So, look out. The one thing Andre knows better than wine is how to make a good night into a great one. And that little nugget comes from experience. A lot of experience. TGIF.
They’ll be holding court on the patio – eating, drinking, relaxing, and diving into that special vida loca that is Carrboro. I’m thinking 8ish – which is admittedly rather early by their Iberian standards. And we’d love for you to swing by, say hi, maybe taste some wine. Nothing big. But it would be nice to show these seriously good hombres some Tarheel love.
And did someone say Rib Night? I thought so. Wednesday, May 3rd. Local pork ribs smoked and slow-cooked to perfection served with overnight baked beans, steakhouse fires, Acme pickles and cole slaw. Of course, our regular menu will be offered all night long as well. Oh, boy.
This weekend @ Acme: pan-seared sea bass. Green garlic! Grilled ribeye. Flash-fried flounder. Shooting Point oysters. Key lime tart with preserved rhubarb. Pickled Carolina shrimp. Grilled local asparagus. Crab cakes. Wedge salad. Sweet potato ravioli. Cast-iron skillet cornbread. Gumbo. Bone marrow. Pecan pie. Acme burger deluxe. Pecan-crusted fried chicken. Spring pea handpie. Rosé all day.
Well, that’s all the news from Carrboro. The staff at Acme look forward to serving you soon.
Cheers,
The Staff at Acme
