Greetings from Carrboro,
You know that we wouldn’t let you down. If nothing else, Acme is most assuredly a fan of tradition. Especially our own. The Acme Mother’s Day is back. Wednesday, May 10th. Our all-out embrace of the brilliant and beautiful, hip and hilarious, serious and sexy women who-also-happen-to-be-moms. You know exactly whom we’re talking about (and, exactly to whom we’re talking). Next Wednesday we will roll out the red carpet for all those wonderful women by treating them to dinner. It’s a Carrboro tradition – nine years running. Every entrée for every mom is on us. Yes, that means free. And that means downright delicious. At Acme, we certainly understand that “MOM” is just “WOW” upside-down.
Tomorrow is Cinco de Mayo. The “5th of May” for those of you playing at home. Which translates from the Spanish to: (noun) one hell of an excuse for a margarita and guacamole. Especially on a Friday. Good lord, especially on a Friday. ¡Viva Acme! ¡Viva Friday! Local strawberry margaritas. Grilled lamb tacos. Tuna ceviche. Firsthand Foods pork tenderloin with molé and chilaquiles. Pickled shrimp and guacamole. Sombreros, however, are completely optional. And when I say “optional” I mean “maybe start with a festive poncho.”
And lastly, I’d like to share with you the three words that I’ve been jonesing for since September: soft. shell. crabs. Can I get a hallelujah? Or just a good drool? Served with beautiful Elysian Fields arugula and romesco. This is that moment when spring grabs you by the scruff of the neck and yanks you to your senses. You know, just in case you forgot how delicious spring can be.
Well, that’s all the news from Carrboro. The staff at Acme look forward to serving you soon.
May the Fourth be with you,
The Staff at Acme
