Greetings from Carrboro,
Ahhh, America. That bountiful land of mom and apple pie and baseball. And, well, zinfandel. No, really. (The red wine – not the awkward pink sheep in the family). Here me out. Because if Uncle Sam had to hoist a glass to toast this great country it would undoubtedly be zin. Not champagne or chardonnay or, god forbid, Boone’s Farm. No siree bob.
Wine people like to talk about terroir. About how great wine speaks to the unique place where it was made. I’d like to add that great wine also speaks to the people who make it. Not just the winemakers themselves but the defining spirit of the people. And to that end, nothing is more keenly American than zinfandel. It’s confident and enthusiastic and certainly stands out in a crowd. Think Clint Eastwood crossed with Ellen DeGeneres riding on a Harley-Davidson and you’re getting close.
If you’re a fan, boy are you in luck. This Saturday night, September 29th, all of us at Acme are thrilled to have Dave Pramuk, the proprietor of Robert Biale Vineyards, join us for a special dinner. People, this is one of the all-time great producers of Napa Valley zinfandel. The wines are nothing short of thrilling. They have always been my favorite expression of the greatness of zinfandel.
The dinner will be five courses, each paired with some seriously Acme-fied deliciousness (menu is below). The dinner is $90 per person with reservations only available by phone – 919 929 2263 – and note that a credit card number will be required. As there is very limited seating, the dinner will sell out in extremely short order. We will kick things off at 6pm sharp. It’s going to be great. Viva America!
Well, that’s all the news from Carrboro. The staff at Acme look forward to serving you soon.
Cheers,
The Staff at Acme
