Greetings from Carrboro,
It’s definitely not a gold watch. But on someone’s last day at Acme, they get a very nice whipped cream pie. In the face. The planning is intense, the plotters always scheming to figure out who the victim would least expect to deliver the blow. And honestly, they will be pied (yes, it has its own term); there’s really no hope of escape. Because how could there be? It’s the tradition. Duh.
But sometimes traditions sour into obligation, that weighty sense of why-me requirement. And, yes, I’m looking directly at you Thanksgiving Dinner. Specifically, I’m looking at the shopping and the cooking and the cleaning and the polishing and every other too-much-to-do-and-too-little-
That’s why there’s the Acme Southern Thanksgiving Feast To-Go. Where you let us do the thing we love, so that you can do all the things you love. And the clock is ticking. The annual turkey-a-thon is a mere three weeks from today. You know, basically tomorrow. And – let’s be honest – either 1) you can’t wait to cook the big meal or 2) you’re not so, um, keen. If you’re in that latter group, Acme is here for you. 100%. We’ll smoke and sous-vide and deep-fry the fresh bird. We’ll roast the sweet potatoes and make all the gravy. We’ll bake the pies and cornbread and slowly simmer the green beans. And then put it all together just for you. (Full menu below.) Simple. That’s been our tradition for 25 straight years. You’re more than welcome to join. It really is kinda great.
There are still a few seats left for the Acme Wine Dinner with Mount Eden Vineyards next Wednesday, November 8th. The dinner will showcase one of the great estate vineyards in California and, specifically, their oh-so spectacular estate Cabernet Sauvignon. Menu is below. The dinner kicks off at 6:30pm with doors opening at 6pm. Price is $80 per person. The dinner will sell out. I hope that you can join us. It’s going to be a great night.
And to answer the many calls and emails: yes, Monday Funday will continue through to 2024!
Well, that’s all the news from Carrboro. The staff at Acme look forward to serving you soon.
Cheers,
The Staff at Acme
