Greetings from Carrboro,
It always starts like this. Yellow leaves fallen from the Mulberry tree behind the restaurant swirl in through the kitchen door. Other leaves congregate in the patio fountain. The UNC-bound bus stop in front of the restaurant is again awash with backpack laden kids wearing hoodies. Our last delivery of flowers from Wild Hare Farm came yesterday. And Jonah’s dad swore, cross his heart, that – this time – he really had no more figs. Whether we like it or not, summer has begun to shut down.
But that also means fall is right around the corner. And all the fantastic things that come with it. For us, that means our 12th annual Salt & Smoke & Sound Festival. But this year, we’re holding it just north of town at beautiful and spacious Blackwood Farm Park. (Really. You should check it out.) It’s an entire Saturday of great food, great music, and great fun. You know, a festival. That’s basically in your backyard. From noon to 10pm. With 5000 other lucky souls. And all this goes down on October 18th. That’s in a mere 37 days. Saturdays don’t get much better around here.

Start with seven stellar bands. Then add in a bunch of food trucks and local chefs cranking out a whole lot of deliciousness, giant bars sponsored by legendary breweries Stella Artois and Wicked Weed, a craft village of local artisans, and plenty of greenspace for kids – and kids at heart – to roam. It’s an all-day affair. So bring blankets. Bring chairs. But definitely bring friends. Or your family. Or both. Basically, you do you and we’ll take care of the rest.
I started Salt & Smoke in 2012 because I wanted to celebrate the food and music in this place that I love. A day where people could gather and remember why we are so lucky to call this corner of North Carolina home. Though the size of the event has grown year after year, the spirit of the festival remains the same. It’s about celebrating this inclusive community and all the great people who live here. That means you. And that’s why we’re inviting you to join us.
Maybe you’ve thought about coming in the past. And maybe you’ve heard from others that you really should go. Well, we agree. This should be your year. You with us? And to help you make that leap of faith we’re offering you the sweetest deal imaginable. For the next week (through to 11:59pm, 9/18), you can purchase a Full Car Package (four (4) tickets and a parking pass) for $80 instead of $139. That’s basically a $59 gift. And all you have to do is use the promocode FIRSTTIMER when you check out. Pretty great, huh? And also over the next week, each of you who purchases a Full Car Package will be entered into a drawing where the winner will get their four tickets upgraded to festival VIP tickets. So. Much. Fun. And just a click away. Fall is going to be great.
Well, that’s all the news from Carrboro. The staff at Acme look forward to serving you soon.
Cheers,
The Staff at Acme
